Scanpack attracted 16,500 delegates this year

Sustainability and digitalisation were the main themes at Northern Europe’s largest packaging fair, Scanpack, which ended last week. The fair attracted a total of 16,500 delegates.

“We could see a sharper focus on digital solutions at Scanpack this year, both in production and in the packaging that was on show. Sustainability was another strong theme this year, together with the importance of design in packaging, and future trends we are likely to see,” says Anna Lena Friberg, Business Manager for Scanpack.

Exhibitors at the fair were kept busy right from day one, as Ingrid Lidbäck from Flextrus can testify:
“This year’s fair was the best so far, there were visitors here right from 10 o’clock on the first day, and they just kept coming. We want to showcase our products and Scanpack is the perfect place to do that,” she says.

Scanpack takes place every three years and has become the biggest packaging fair in northern Europe. This year’s fair was attended by 463 exhibitors from around 30 countries and 16,500 delegates in total, of which 12,900 were visitors and the rest were registered exhibitors.

“It’s not often that you get an opportunity to meet the leading packaging companies in the industry all in one place. But that is what happened at the four-day Scanpack fair, which several visitors called ‘the best Scanpack ever’,” says Anna Lena Friberg.

One exciting event that attracted a lot of interest was a talk by Lube Belokozovski from Smurfit Kappa speech about “Brain Scan” – a tool for scanning the unconscious impressions of the brain. Another popular talk was by Andrew Gibbs, founder of The Dieline – the world’s leading blog and website on packaging design. Andrew talked about the value of creativity in designing smart and sustainable packaging. Carlsberg also drew a large audience in a talk that centred on how they are meeting customer demands for more environmentally friendly packaging.

The next Scanpack fair will be held in three years’ time, on 26–29 October 2021.

“We look forward to the next opportunity to enjoy the great atmosphere and the fantastic exchange of know-how and experience that we experienced throughout this year’s fair,” says Anna Lena Friberg.
